ELDERS
Email
elders@crosspte.org
In addition to the biblically mandated charge
of diligently keeping the church anchored to the Word of God and
growing in the Holy Spirit, the elders are responsible for
holding the senior pastor accountable to the guiding principles
under the Accountable Leadership organizational structure.
One of the highest
priorities of our elders is prayer. Prayer is the lifeblood of the church.
Nothing is more important than an effective prayer life founded upon
the truth of God’s word. Prayer without truth is worthless. Knowing
the word without a relationship with God that is evident by an active
prayer life is incomplete. If an elder cannot be faithful in this fundamental
issue, the church will have no power.
The authority rests with the elder board
alone, not individuals. The elder chairman sets the agenda and
runs the meetings but all elders are equal.

Don Milam, Secretary
Wife: Betty, 4 Children & 11 GrandchildrenI became as
an elder in March of 2008. At this stage in our lives,
we have a common desire to be alert to the leading of
God’s Spirit and willing to follow it wherever it takes
us. Our goal is that others might find Jesus reflected
in our everyday actions and speech. My interests include
computer assisted studies and working in all areas of
building construction and repair. |

Rick Melick, Senior Pastor
Wife: Joy, Sons: Richard & NathanI began as Senior Pastor and on
the elder board in April 2006. Instead of withdrawing
from the surrounding culture, I will penetrate it and
seek to be an articulate voice speaking out for Jesus
Christ in the marketplace of ideas. I want to be
involved in building an authentic Christian community. I
will speak the language of today's culture to people who
don't necessarily fit the mold of the traditional
church. I am committed to being real. My life is not
perfect, but I believe the Gospel will show through the
cracks. I am determined to be relevant by facing issues
that matter to the people who I am trying to reach. I
will become a student of the culture - ridding myself of
unnecessary tradition and spiritual jargon. I will meet
those who do not know Christ, where they are, moving
them to the power of the cross. I love to hike, workout,
run, and play golf. |
